Wilma (Bowman) White, daughter of Fred and Nellie (Hanna) Bowman, born in 1927, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, March 1, 2020 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center.

She attended IHS in 1942 but dropped out.  Later she attended Allegheny Co. Community College and received her high school diploma in 1969.

She married her husband James on August 28, 1946.  He passed away on December 14, 2012, after 66 years of marriage.  During part of that time, they lived in the McKeesport area for 25 years.

After returning to Indiana in 1976, she worked for Don Miller Shoes prior to working in the Housekeeping Dept. at IUP for 14 ½ years.  She was very active in the Indiana Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and was Sunday School Secretary for 25 years.  After retirement, she and her friends loved to go on bus trips.

Wilma loved to bake, crochet, paint and do crafts. She was well known for fried chicken and her baked pies.

Two children were born to them - Jeanette and James.  Jeanette died on May 18, 1990 of cancer. James and his wife Joyce live in Lawrence Co.  There are four grandchildren - Jacob White, Jaimie Caggiano and husband Douglass, Jennifer and Joseph Suhoski, and son-in-law Joseph Suhoski.  She is survived by her sister Lois Schrecengost, Indiana.  Wilma will be greatly missed by all her nieces and nephews.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three brothers, Norman, Charles "Gene" and Edward "Bus."

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral home, Indiana.  A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Christian Missionary & Alliance Church, Indiana, with the Rev. Marv Nelson officiating.  Interment will be made in the Union Cemetery, Shelocta.
