Obituary

William S. Ward, age 82, of Indiana, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was a resident of St. Andrew's Village for the past 9 1/2 years. He was born in 1930 in Mill Creek, WV to George and Flora Davisson Ward, and grew up in Charleston, WV. Mr. Ward was a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church, the Alpha Theta Chi, the History Honorary Society, and the Halifax Optimist Club, NC. He earned his AB History degree from Marshall University in Huntington, WV, and his Master's degree in Library Science from Rutger's University, New Brunswick, NJ. He was employed as a librarian at Virginia Tech, Morehead State Univ. in KY; and Halifax County Library, NC. William is survived by one brother, Reuben K. Ward and wife Rose, North Quarry, NC; his niece Rev. Kathryn Ward Stear and her husband Randy, Indiana; and by seven nephews and three other nieces. He is also survived by two sister-in-laws, Mary E. "Betty" Campbell, Marion, VA; Janet Ward, Bridgeport, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by three brothers, Flavius D. Ward, Wirt C. Ward, and George Ward, II. A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Andrew's Village, Indiana, with the Rev. David Hanna officiating. A spring interment will be made in the Sunset Memorial Park, S. Charleston, WV. Bowser-Minich Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to "Friends of St. Andrew's Village", 1155 Indian Springs Rd., Indiana, PA 15701.
