William H. George, age 86, of Shelocta, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center.

He was born in 1931 in Shelocta to Harry L. and Sarah Edith Long George.

Mr. George was a long-time member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Clymer, where he had served as a deacon and a trustee for many years.

Bill was a life-long, fourth generation farmer in Armstrong Twp. and owned and operated several buses for the Indiana School District for many years. He also served as Armstrong Twp. Supervisor. Bill was actively involved with 4-H, Soil Conservation, PA Farm Bureau, and served as President on the board of the Union Cemetery.

Bill was an avid hunter and gardener and shared that passion with his family.

He is survived by three sons and two daughters - Kathy McClelland and husband John, Indiana; Mark George and wife Patti, Indiana; Dan George and wife Carol, Shelocta; Larry George and wife Amy, Shelocta; Amy McCullough and husband Kerry, Rossiter; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Louise Hollenbach and husband Harold, Hummelstown; Mary Gaynelle White, Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy P. Gerber George in 2015, sister Edna Mae Graham, brothers-in-law, Glenn Graham, and Ronald White

Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 A.M. at the Calvary Baptist Church, Clymer, with the Rev. Dr. Daryl Jeffers and Bill's best friend, the Rev. Wilber Barber officiating. Interment will be made in the Union Cemetery, Shelocta.
