Walter Bryja, 91, of Clarksburg, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Beacon Ridge Nursing Facility.

Born on February 15, 1933, in Portage, Walter was the son of the late Jacob and Franceszka (Kuras) Bryja.

A U.S. Army veteran and minor league baseball player, Walter was a member of Good Shepherd Parish, Kent. He was an avid Penn State and Indiana County sports fan, and prior to his retirement, he was employed as a high school chemistry and physics teacher.

He was preceded in death by several brothers and one sister.

Surviving is his wife, Dorothy (Nibert) Bryja, Clarksburg; daughter, Tanya Bryja and her husband, Bradley Cox, Brussels, Belgium; brother Michael Bryja; sister, Bernice Bryja; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends may call from 4 to 6 PM, Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at the Bowser Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Good Shepherd Parish, Kent, at 11 AM with Father Segundino R. Laude as celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana.
