Obituary

Wade Eugene Helman, 85, of Indiana, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, August 15, 2014 at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born in 1929 in Indiana, to Vance and Annie (Greene) Helman. Wade was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Clymer. He was a former Trustee of the church, a church camp board member, and a supporter of the Calvary Baptist Academy. Wade was an active farmer and owner of Helman's Apple Orchard. He was a member and former board member of the Indiana Fruit Growers Association. Wade also worked in construction being involved in the building of IRMC, IUP and the Homer City Power Plant. He enjoyed spending time with his family on the farm and being with his grandchildren. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army. Wade is survived by his wife of 57 years Laura Jean (Cook) Helman, Indiana; two sons and a daughter, Carol Jean George and husband Daniel, Shelocta; Edward Eugene Helman and wife Betty, Indiana; and Donald Wade Helman and wife Connie, Indiana; 11 grandchildren, Laura Mortimer and husband Zachary; Lyndsey Nicholson and husband Timothy; Abra Gardner and husband Josh; Megan Helman and fiancé Andrew Pudliner; Matthew George and wife Jennifer; Donald Helman Jr; Bret Helman; Elizabeth George; Allen Helman; Joshua Helman; and Nathaniel Helman; six great grandchildren, Mikayla, Madisyn and Garrett Mortimer; Breegan Robinson; Bryston Gardner; Brayden Nicholson and two great grandchildren on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers, Gertrude Helman, Ruby Leasure, Dorothy Rumbaugh, Lloyd, Lyle, Wayne and Floyd Helman Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A memorial service will be at 11:00 AM Monday at the Calvary Baptist Church, Clymer, with Dr. Daryl Jeffers officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations may be made to the Calvary Baptist Academy, 11394 Rte 286 East, Clymer, PA 15728.
