Vernon L. Demich, age 88, of Shelocta, passed away on Tuesday at St. Andrew's Village.

He was born in 1928 in Sagamore to Peter and Helen Steele Demich.

Vern was a member of St. Mary Mother of God Roman Catholic Church, Yatesboro, the Shelocta Sportsman Club, the Sagamore VFW Post #6555, the Homer City American Legion, the BPOE Lodge #931, the Holmes Safety Assoc., and the FOOM in Northfield, OH.

A veteran of WW II, he served in the US Navy.

He was employed as an electrician with various coal companies for 43 years before his retirement.

Fishing and hunting were two of Vern's favorite hobbies. He had been a resident of South Bend Twp for the past 51 years.

Surviving is his wife of 66 years A. Ruth (McCoy) Demich, Shelocta; a son Vernon "Butch" Demich and his wife Elaine, Plum; a daughter Denise Krivokuca and husband Paul, O'Fallon, IL; six grandchildren - Christine, Emily, Brendan, Natalie, Erin, and Nicholas; four great-grandchildren - Daunte, Meilah, Evie, and Nate; two step-grandchildren - Keith and Cory; one brother Richard Demich and wife Sherry, Streetsboro, OH; one uncle Harold Demich, Bethel Park; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Gregory A. Demich in 2013, a granddaughter Ashley Demich in 2001, a sister Ruth Good, and a brother Jack Demich.
