Thomas D. Walker , age 85 , of Indiana , formerly of Homer City , passed away Friday, A ugust 19, 2016 at Communities at Indian Haven.

He was born in 1931 in Lucernemines, to Harry Daniel and Hannah Jane Griffith Walker.

Tom was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Homer City , and Homer City American Legion.

A veteran of the Korean War he served in the US Navy.

Unc or Uncle as he was known to his nieces and nephews was employed first as an equipment operator for PennDOT, and was more lately employed as a coal miner with Florence Mining Co. for most of working career, retiring in 1992.

Thomas is survived by one sister, Dorothy Burt and husband Donald, Portland, OR; and the following nieces and nephews, Jamie L. Sgro and husband Dominic, Indiana; Cheryl Duffalo and husband Thomas, Mechanicsburg; Barbara Sherland and husband Pete, Seattle, WA; Beverly Roberts and husband Gordan, OR; Richard Burt and wife Maxine, Portland, OR; Susan Belknap and hsuband Bob, CT; Cindy Hinton and brother William Hinton; Bonnie Fangman, GA; Margaret Brooks, MD.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by the following siblings, Martha Brooks, Arthur James Walker, and Betty Lou Hinton.

A celebration of Unc's life will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 11 A.M. at the Church of the Nazarene, Homer City with the Rev. Charles Lockard officiating. Private inurnment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana. The Bowser-Minich Funeral Home , Indiana , has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
