Theresa Ann
Zajec
October 15, 1924 – July 31, 2024
With profound sadness the family of Theresa A. Zajec, 99, announces her passing at her home, surrounded by her loving family on July 31, 2024.
Theresa was born to Joseph and Nellie Bananto on October 15, 1924, in McIntyre, PA, and was the only remaining member of her family of five brothers and four sisters: Andrew, Mary, Clara, Josephine, Henry, Walter, Thomas, William, and Agnes.
Theresa was a member of the can-do Greatest Generation, having survived the poverty of The Great Depression and World War II while witnessing the most profound economic and technological transformation in human history. Her resulting positive attitude won any life battle that came her way, and she helped leave us a world far better than the one she inherited.
Theresa was a graduate of Elders Ridge High School and worked for a time as a factory worker and nurse aide, which was her patriotic contribution to the WWII effort. In 1948 she married Frank J. Zajec, and they settled in Homer City where they raised their four children: Frank, Cynthia, David, and Patricia (Bernard Maudie).
Beautiful inside and out, Theresa was a faithful Catholic and will be remembered for her kind and generous nature, always doing whatever she could to help anyone. She was a devoted wife and mother, and she loved nothing more than spending time with her family. In the summer she could be seen tending her flowers and sharing long walks around Homer City with her friends. Her home always welcomed you with the wonderful aromas of her tasty meals and treats.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, her brothers and sisters. She leaves her memories to her children to cherish, her sister-in-law Elva Zajec, nephew Bob (Laura) Breznican, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family is grateful for the loving care given by Dr. Matthew Klain, Debbie Robson, Candy Coffman and Rochelle Clark and family.
Services were private with arrangements made by Bowser Minich Funeral Home. Interment was in St. Bernard Cemetery.
