Obituary

Obituary for Shirley Scanlon Shirley L. Scanlon, 82, of Indiana, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Rose Haven Personal Care Home. She was born in 1929 to Walter L. and Goldie (Christenson) Hoover in North Braddock. Shirley was a member of St. Thomas More University Parish, She enjoyed listening to her audio books and visits with her CareNet volunteers. She was a graduate of Scott High School and Shadyside Hospital School of Nursing, being valedictorian of both of her classes. She married Eugene F. Scanlon, June 28, 1950 and celebrated 50 years of marriage prior to Gene's death in 2001. Shirley is survived by two sons and a daughter, Patrick L. Scanlon and wife Donna Hoare Scanlon, Penn Run;Timothy M. Scanlon and wife Melody A. Matter, New Cumberland; Suzanne L. Scanlon, Blue Ridge Summit; four grandchildren, Justine Scanlon Winger and husband Derrick, Akron, OH; Ryan D. Scanlon, West Mifflin, Hanna L. and Reed M. Scanlon, New Cumberland; a cousin Louise Houseman Suley, Arvarda, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene F. Scanlon, a son Michael F. Scanlon, and a granddaughter Kalynne Kristine Scanlon. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana., A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 AM at the St. Thomas More University Parish, Indiana with Fr. Michael Sikon celebrant. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to CareNet, 850 Hospital Road, Suite 3000, Indiana, PA 15701.
