Sara Steele Chiodo's Obituary

Sara Steele Chiodo, age 75, of Indiana, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. She was born in 1939 in Duquesne to David W. and R. Corrine Edwards Steele. Mrs. Chiodo was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church, Indiana, CD of A., and the PSAR. She was also a volunteer at the Indiana Co. Courthouse Information Desk. Sara was a dedicated and caring elementary first grade teacher at Purchase Line School District for 31 years until her retirement in 1999. She still remembers many of her students even as adults. She was a loving and proud wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be sadly missed by all. Sara is survived by her husband of 55 years, Philip "Bo" Chiodo, Jr., Indiana; one daughter and two sons - Carol Davies and husband John, Clymer; Philip Chiodo, III and wife Theresa, Jefferson, MD; Gary D. Chiodo, Indiana; three grandchildren - Brenton Davies, Paige Davies, and Katherine Chiodo; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, by two brothers - David Steele, Benjamin Steele, and one sister - Audrey Steele. Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 A.M. at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church, Indiana. Entombment will be made in the St. Bernard Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Lions Club, 1278 Lions Health Camp Road, Indiana, PA 15701, or a charity of the donors' choice.
