Russell Gary Hazy, born on June 30, 1952, in North Charleroi, PA to Thora and Joseph Hazy. Russell passed away on May 11, 2023, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents Joseph (2006), and Thora (2013) Hazy.
Russell is survived by his wife, Debra (Johns) Hazy, whom he married on August 21, 1976, and lived in Indiana, PA. They shared 46 years of love and cherished memories. Russell leaves behind his two sons, Gary (wife Britney) and Jody (wife Marian), who were a source of pride and joy for him. He is survived by his three brothers, Stewart (wife Cynthia), Jeffrey (wife Akemi) and Richard (wife Rosemary). Russell, in addition has two brother in-laws, Richard (wife Linda) and Douglas Johns.
Russell had a diverse professional background. Most recently he was a real estate agent with RE/MAX Select Realty, serving Indiana, PA, where his business acumen and commitment to service shone through. Prior to that, he spent many years in the food service industry, and he had a passion for weaving as well.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Russell was known for his honesty and selflessness. He was always eager to learn and had a quick wit that often resulted in terrible jokes. He loved making people laugh and brought a sense of lightness to those around him. Russell was a hard worker, always there to lend a hand or offer guidance. These were traits that were passed along to both Gary and Jody.
Russell's memory lives on through his six grandchildren: Leni, Adeline, Fitz, Ari, Ezra, and Paul. He adored them and created many treasured moments with each of them.
Although Russell's passing leaves a void in the lives of his loved ones, his legacy of hard work, integrity, and humor will continue to inspire and bring comfort. He will be remembered as a loving family man and a friend who touched the lives of many.
Family and friends are welcome to join for a Celebration of Life to be held Friday May 26, 2023, at 1:00pm. Location: Summit Church, 2707 West Pike Road, Indiana, with Pastor Dick Motzing officiating.
