Roger Joseph Reschini's Obituary

Roger Joseph Reschini, 74, of 922 Philadelphia Street, Indiana, PA, died on April 11,2012 . Roger was President and CEO of The Reschini Group, an independent insurance agency specializing in Property/Casualty and Employee Benefits placement and consulting. Roger spent over 50 years in the insurance industry, beginning his career in February 1959 working at the Reschini Insurance Agency, which was founded by Roger's mother Rose P. Reschini in 1938. In 1964 he became a partner at the Reschini Insurance Agency with his mother, Rose, and father, Joseph R. Reschini. In 1979 Roger purchased the Agency from his parents. Roger built the company into what it is today: a multi-service firm recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania, providing clients with world-class customer service and product expertise both locally and across the United States. Roger was also intimately involved in the construction of the office building, Laurel Place in downtown Indiana, where The Reschini Group currently resides. Roger is survived by his sons, Roman and Rogrickk. He is also survived by his 5 children with Mary Kay Kennedy: Kathy (Sweeney), Lisa (Monk), Renee (Hewitt), Michele (Angelo) and Joe. He had 9 grandchildren: Kate and Ty Sweeney, Kevin and Mary Jo Monk, Jake and Sloane Hewitt, and Dominic, Gia, and Elena Angelo. He is also survived by his sister Elaine (Reschini) Judge. Roger ended his life exactly the way he directed: at home surrounded by love and prayer. Per his wishes, there will be no visitation, and the funeral mass will be limited to family only. Professional accomplishments alone, however, do not begin to define Roger as a person. Roger has spent a lifetime giving back to this community. Roger has been active with the Boy Scouts of America since he was a boy, earning his Eagle Scout certification in 1954 and has continued his strong support throughout his adult life. Roger's other civic accomplishments are too numerous to mention, but a partial list is as follows: past president, honorary member and Paul Harris Fellow recipient of the Indiana Rotary Club; recipient of the Benjamin Rush Award in Service from Indiana Hospital; board emeritus status of the Indiana County United Way; and 1979 Indiana Inter-Service Council Civic Leader of the Year. Roger was a prolific fund-raiser, with his involvement with the Red Cross and IRMC, just to name a few. In addition, Roger's involvement with the Indiana County Airport Authority has been instrumental to the new runway becoming a reality. Roger impacted countless lives in this community, and he will be missed. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 29, Laurel Highlands Council, Chestnut Ridge District. The Bowser-Minich Funeral Home of Indiana has been entrusted with the arrangments.
