Obituary

Robert S. Sensabaugh, Sr., age 83, of Indiana, died peacefully on Monday, July 18, 2011 at Communities of Indian Haven, with his family at his side. He was born in 1927 in Green Twp., to John and Esther M. Learn Sensabaugh. Mr. Sensabaugh was a member of the Christian Missionary and Alliance Church, Indiana, the VFW Post #1989 where he served as past commander and as a member of the Veterans Honor Guard, and a former member of the Oddfellows. A veteran of WW II, he served in the US Army during the occupation of Japan, and served in the US Army reserves for 32 years at the 458th Batallion, Indiana. Robert was employed at Indiana Auto Parts for 14 years, and was later employed as a production worker at Fisher Scientific for 16 years. He enjoyed gardening, lawn work, fishing, hunting, and was a collector of various items. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was the loving husband of Stella M. (Fleming) Sensabaugh, whom he married August 12, 1950; two daughters and one son, Connie E. Zagurskie and husband Harry, Indiana; Robert S. Sensabaugh, Jr. and wife Sharon, Commodore; Melanie L. Fink and husband Fred, Indiana; his daughter-in-law Cindy Sensabaugh, Cherry Tree; seven grandchildren, Kerri L. Sassano and husband Tony; Stacey Ripa and husband Nick; Kristin, Nicole, and Cody Sensabaugh; Amanda and Samantha Fink; two great grandchildren, Mia and Brady Sassano; two sisters, Theda Johns and husband Rothard, Diamondville; Avalee Patterson and husband Carl, Pine Flats; his sister-in-law Lavada Sensabaugh, Commodore; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, by a son Carl Sensabaugh in 1995, by three brothers, Doyle, Merritt "Jack", and Gerald Sensabaugh. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 A.M. with Pastor William Murphy officiating. Interment will be made in the Oakland Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be provided by the VFW Post #1989 honor guard.
