Obituary

Robert Frank Missien, age 81, of Indiana, died Monday, September 19, 2011 at Beacon Ridge Nursing Home. He was born in 1930 in Wexford, to Edward J. and ErnaVene Hetrick Missien. Bob was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux R.C. Church, and a life member of Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Indiana Lions Club. A veteran of the Korean War, he served as a staff sergeant in the US Air Force. He was first self-employed as owner/operator of Missien's Esso Station, then as an assembler at FMC for 27 years, and as a driver delivering meals for Aging Services, Inc. Bob enjoyed farming and raising beef cattle. Robert is survived by his wife Alene "Elly" Lowman Missien, Indiana; one son and three daughters, Stephanie George and husband William, Marion Center; Tracey Missien, Indiana; Frank, Blairsville; Suzanne Stear and husband Richard, Indiana; four grandchildren, Heather, Brandie and Meggan George; Logan Stear, two great grandchildren, Dennis and Hayley George; one sister Erna Hallow, Greensburg; He was preceded in death by his parents, and by two brothers Edward and Bill Missien. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a parish Vigil service will be held at 3:45 P.M. The Knights of Columbus will attend the evening visitation. A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday at 12 noon at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church with the Rev. Fr. William Kiel the celebrant. Private interment will be made at a later date. The VFW Post #1989 will provide military honors at St. Bernard Church.
