Robert Lee Cerovich's Obituary

Robert Lee "Cook" Cerovich, 72, of Indiana passed away Tuesday, June 18, at West Penn Hospital. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Cook was born on December 5, 1940 to John James Cerovich, Sr. and Amenia Marie "Minnie" (Moretti) Cerovich. Cook was a 1958 graduate of Indiana Joint High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh for 2 years majoring in Vocational Education. He was a self-employed mason and general contractor for most of his life and owned the Indiana News Company from 1979 to 1989. He enjoyed many hobbies, including travel, fishing, woodworking, and was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. His storytelling is legendary. He coached and umpired for American Legion and Little League baseball. He will be remembered for his generosity, always willing to help others. In his retirement, Cook spent many years woodworking, beginning with making birdhouses and perfecting his skills creating a variety of furniture pieces. He gave away many pieces to family and friends who now enjoy them in their homes. Mr. Cerovich is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Ann (Spurlin) Cerovich; three children: Jeff Cerovich and wife Jan and their children Emma, Annie, and Langley, of Edwards, CO; Amy Wiggins and husband Noland and their children Madeleine, Zachary, Samuel, and Benjamin, of Asheville, NC; and Beth Murphy and husband Dan and their children Dylan and Fiona, of Indiana. He is also survived by his brother John, of Indiana and sister Carol Bothel of Greensburg as well as several uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Family and friends will be received on Friday, June 21st at Bowser-Minich Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and also on Saturday from 10-11 AM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday June 22nd at 11:00 AM with Pastor Brad Lauster officiating. Internment will occur at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Indiana County Technology Center, in the memo "Masonry Department", Attention: Business Manager, 441 Hamill Road, Indiana, PA 15701.
