Robert D.
Bowser
May 13, 1951 – August 26, 2023
Robert D. (Bowz) Bowser, 72, of Homer City, passed away unexpectedly on August 26, 2023, with his wife and children by his side.
Bob was born on May 13, 1951, to Charles and Dorothy (Shriver) Bowser. He grew up in North Apollo, PA, and was a 1970 graduate of Apollo-Ridge High School. Bob was a talented athlete who loved playing sports and received a full scholarship for football to Salem College in West Virginia. After graduating from college, he worked as a substitute teacher and football coach for Highlands High School ending up making a career working in the coal mines for R&P Coal Company for 24 years.
Bob held many titles in his life, but his favorite role was being a husband, father, and grandfather. He was truly alive when spending time with his family. Bob was a staple at every football game, track meet, wrestling match and basketball game. You could find him getting kids to and from practices and games, manning the bus stop, hunting, mowing the grass or taking the grand dogs for an afternoon break. His children and grandchildren knew him as their #1 fan, always there to offer them wisdom, love, support, and encouragement.
Bob survived by his wife of 38 years, Joan (Aloisi) Bowser; son, Gino (Laura) Bowser; daughter, Sheila (Jared) Kiebler; grandchildren, Corbin, Gage, Draden, and Lincoln; siblings, Bill (Joan) Bowser, Dennis (Connie) Bowser, Diana Blumeraitis, Darlene (Rich) Farah, and Cindy Bowser; sisters-in-law Arlene (Jim) Larson, Teresa (Dan) Gordish, and Sandy (Gary) LeRo; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by an infant sister Deborah Bowser.
Services will be announced at a later date and have been entrusted to the care of the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana.
