Obituary

Robert "Bob" Clair Bishop, Jr., age 75, of Indiana, formerly of Homer City, died Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family after fighting a courageous battle. The son of Robert C. Bishop, Sr. and Bertha F. Reed, he was born in 1938 in Rayne Twp. A strong and hard working farmer, he managed Big Oak Farms for over 30 years, and prior to retirement worked for Marion Center Supply. He was a 1957 graduate of Indiana High School. He was a 4-H leader for 20 years of the Southern Livestock Club, a member of the Indiana Co., Jr. Livestock Sale Committee and the swine department superintendent at the Indiana County Fair. Bob enjoyed raising livestock and helping kids. He was always there to support his kids, grandkids, and now great-grandkids at local and state shows. The family was recently honored for their service to 4-H. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dolores Treese Bishop, Indiana; four sons and two daughters, Robert C., III and wife Laurie, Dayton; Dick and wife Kim, Penn Run; Donald J., Ebensburg; Sandra K. Fairman and husband Terry, Marion Center; Kathryn J. Beatty and husband Robert, Indiana; Timothy and Isaac, Creekside; 10 grandchildren, Travis, Andy, and Sam Bishop, Nicole Small, Brittany Wallace, Kristen Shankle, Brooke Fairman, Greg, Mike, and Jen Beatty; six great grandchildren, Ariel, Toby, Lydia, Callie, and Sadie Bishop, and Tim Barrett. Pap was excitingly waiting for the birth of three more great grandchildren. Lastly Bob had special bonds with his grand-dogs, especially Max and Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, by an infant sister Kathryn J. Bishop, and by a brother John H. Bishop. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 11 A.M. with the Rev. Rick Hurley officiating. Interment will be made in the Grove Chapel Cemetery.
