Richard B. Thomas' Obituary

Richard B. Thomas, age 63, of Shelocta, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2014 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born in 1951 in Indiana to Dennis and Ethel Barr Thomas. Rich attended the Shelocta Community Presbyterian Church, and was a member of the Indiana Co. Fire Police, Wednesday Night Men's Bowling League at Greendale, and a former member of the Elderton Volunteer Fire Co. He was an avid hunter and bowler. His team won the 1975 PA State Team Bowling Championship. Rich was employed by Specialty Tires of America in Indiana for the past 27 years having achieved 21 years of perfect attendance. He was also employed as a Security Guard for many school functions and coin shows. Richard is survived by his wife of 41 years - Cheryl E. Fleming Thomas, Shelocta; one daughter - Stephanie Fiely and husband Chris, Titusville; one brother and two sisters - Delone Thomas and wife Pauline, Hanover; Barbara Remaley, Kittanning; Marcia Shirley and husband Gary, Saltsburg; brothers-in law - Jim Fleming and wife Karen Sue, Indiana; Wallace "Bud" Fleming and wife Linda, Indiana; Terry "Legs" Fleming and wife Julie, Dayton; sisters-in-law - Karen Redinger and husband Gary, Shelocta; Pam Cavalier and husband Tom, Clarksburg; Susan Patterson and husband Ed, Indiana; June Good and husband Keith, Camden, SC; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son - Dennis Quay Thomas in 1976, by his father and mother-in-law - Walter "Quay" and Bernice Fleming. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 A.M. with the Rev. Joseph Tagliaferre officiating. Interment will be made in the Atwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelocta Community Presbyterian Church, PO Box 177, Shelocta, PA 15774; or to VNA/Hospice, 850 Hospital Rd., Suite 3000, Indiana, PA 15701.
