Obituary

Richard D. "Peck" Gressley, 85, of Penn Run, passed away July 24, 2014 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born in 1929 to William J. and Grace H. (Fronk) Gressley in Heilwood. Peck was a member of Harmony United Presbyterian Church, Penn Run; a former member of the Cherryhill Twp. Volunteer Fire Company. He retired after 34 years working as the freight accountant for the Cambria and Indiana Railroad. Peck enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, camping and being involved in all aspects of his family's lives. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a veteran of the Korean war serving in the United States Army. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty L. (Smith) Gressley, Penn Run; two daughters, Lori Lavanish and husband Dick, Penn Run; Karen Alsop and husband Ron, Penn Run; four grandchildren, Evan and Ian Lavanish, Adelle Dolney and husband Tim, and Jordan Alsop; a great-granddaughter Ella Raeann Dolney; a brother-in-law Dennis Michaels; two sisters-in-law Ruie Gressley and Debbie Gurcsik and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Delmont "Dee" and Bill Gressley, a sister Naomi "Susie" Michaels, and an infant brother. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 PM at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, additional visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Harmony United Presbyterian Church, Penn Run; Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Penn Run. Memorial donations may be made to the Harmony United Presbyterian Church, PO Box 495, Penn Run, PA 15765.
