Richard W. Filler, age 53 of Shelocta, died Sunday, August 27, 2017 at his home.

He was born in 1964 in Ft. Leonard, MO to LeRoy and Twila Rhine Filler.

Rich was a member of the Shelocta Sportsman Club, C & Y Sportsman Club, Carpenters Local #1419, and the American Legion, Homer City.

He was employed as a union carpenter with Patent Scaffold Co., Safeway Scaffold, and Brand Energy.

Rich enjoyed his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, riding his Harley, hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling with his wife.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Brenda McCurdy Filler, one step-son, Will Welker and wife Elaine, Homer City; two grandchildren, Landon and Layla Welker; his parents of Blairsville; one sister Sherri Risinger and husband Kenny, Blairsville.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Veronica Davis, and his maternal grandmother Mildred Rhine, and his cousin Mike Ondo.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 7 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 1:30 P.M. with officiating. Interment will be private. Dinner will follow at the Shelocta Sportsman Club.
