Richard M.
Fetterman
November 29, 1949 – October 5, 2024
Richard M. Fetterman, 74, of Indiana, died Saturday, October 5, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
Rick was born in Indiana on November 29, 1949, to the late Orvie and Alverda (Swanlek) Fetterman.
He was self-employed for a time as an owner and operator of his own coal truck. After some time, he began his 26-year career with PennDOT 10-0, retiring in 2011. He then worked for Mark Arbuckle Nissan and Colonial Toyota doing dealer trades, although he never thought of it as work. He enjoyed the camaraderie of all the employees and his traveling "buddies." Rick also worked for his son Jason at Yard at Work Landscaping striving for the perfect "stripes." Rick honorably served our country during the Vietnam War with the 101st Airborne Rangers, L Company, 75th Infantry.
Rick graduated from Penns Manor High School in 1967, and always enjoyed attending his class reunions. He and his wife Pam celebrated 50 years of marriage this past August 17th. As an outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and was an avid trout fisherman. He also enjoyed walking through Sunset Acres with his granddaughter Alaynna, talking to the neighbors as they walked. When Alaynna learned her pappy was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer, she chose to stay with him the entire summer. Rick attended Summit Church and enjoyed seeing his "ole buddy," Pastor Dick Motzing.
Rick is survived by his wife Pamela (Biconik) Fetterman; son Jason (Layla) Fetterman, daughter Danelle (Robert) Henry; brother Randy (Deborah) Fetterman, granddaughter Alaynna Rose Henry, niece Chanelle (Carol) Fetterman, and nephew Justin (Mindy) Fetterman.
Friends will be received by the family on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 4-7 PM and Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM in the BOWSER MINICH FUNERAL HOME, Indiana, with Pastor Dick Motzing officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
Rick's family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of IRMC VNA and VNA Family Hospice.
