Obituary

Richard Metro Fello, age 67 of Indiana, died Monday June 3, 2013 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born in 1945 in Iselin to Joseph and Kathryn Persoskie Fello. Rich was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church where he served on Council, the property board, and the Zion Accessibility Renovation Project. He was also a member of the Apollo ELKS Club where he enjoyed golfing with his brother, sons, and nephew. He was employed as a social studies and reading teacher by St. Gertrude Catholic School, Vandergrift, and the Armstrong School District for 38 years, retiring in 2008. Rich was an avid reader, history buff, and loved to travel throughout the United States. In his retirement he was able to pursue his hobbies of gardening, woodworking, and carpentry, which he shared with those he loved. He will be remembered for his generosity, loyalty, commitment to family, and his infamous dry humor. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 25 years, Susie Cravener Fello; three daughters and two sons, Shannon Fello-Marsh and husband Sean, Baltimore, MD; Renee Riding, Pittsburgh; Richard Fello and wife Heather, Pittsburgh; Joseph Fello and wife Sherri, Pittsburgh; Jennica Mills and partner Freeman Michaels, San Diego, CA; three grandchildren, Bailey Lastner, MacKenzie and Gavin Reed; his twin brother Robert Fello and wife Marian, Vandergrift; three sisters, Carol Rossi and husband Tom, Tinsmill; Mary Ellen Perla, Saltsburg; Jeanne Cup and husband Andy, Saltsburg; by his in-laws, Earl and Nadine Cravener, Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful Golden Retriever, Sadie. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his brother, Joseph Fello, Jr. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Thursday at 11 A.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Indiana, with the Rev. Julie Walz officiating. Guests will be received in the church social hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church earmarked for Family Promise, 100 S. Sixth St., Indiana, PA 15701.
