Richard J. Dellaposta's Obituary

Richard Joseph Dellaposta, age 29, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at his home in Lucernemines. He was born November 20, 1980 to Robert A. Dellaposta and Sherry Wellen Dellaposta. Rich was a 1999 graduate of Homer-Center High School. While there he participated in various county, district, and regional bands and was a member of IUP Honors Band. He had attended IUP and was planning to return there to major in music education. He had worked at Indian Springs Golf and Country Club and was the pro-shop manager. He also worked as a cook at Ruby Tuesdays. Rich moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 2004. He took classes to become a licensed armed security officer and worked for Allied Barton. He also worked at Windtree Golf Course He was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Indiana. He enjoyed fishing and was a "scratch" golfer. He was the VFW Junior Champion and the Indiana County Junior Tour Champion in 1999. The other loves of his life were his family, playing his trumpet, and his mom's apple pie. There are many videos posted on YouTube of Rich playing his trumpet. His username was civicdude101. He was a member of the Blairsville Community Band, and most recently played in the pit band for the Homer-Center High School musical. He is survived by his mother, of Lucernemines and fiance, Rick Hilty; his father, of Nashville, Tennessee and partner, Sandra Toler; his sister, Holly Tullis, of Lucernemines; his brother, Robert, of Morrisville, North Carolina; twin nephews, Evan and Ethan Tullis, of Lucernemines; grandmother, JoAnn Dellaposta, of Altoona; uncles and aunts - Scott and JoAnn Wellen, of Indiana, and Vince and Ann Dellaposta, of Hagerstown, Maryland; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Rich was preceded in death by his grandparents Richard and Evelyn Wellen and his grandfather, Joseph "Pep" Dellaposta. Friends will be received on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 A.M. with the Rev. David Hanna officiating. Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
