Richard C. Augustine , age 69 , of Indiana, formerly of Pittsburgh, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 , He will be sorely missed by his wife, his children, grandchildren, and all of his many friends. This godly man made an impression on all of us. His pain and struggles are behind him and he is truly home and at peace with the Lord.
He was born in 1946 in Pittsburgh, to Michael J. and June Allen Augustine.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the US Navy.
Richard was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church , where he served as an Elder, Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent, and was a member of the Men's Bible Study. He was also a member of the American Trucking Assoc., (ATA), National Distribution Carriers Assoc., (NPTC), the National Private Trucking Council, Gideons, CEO, and the Chief Executive Officers Assoc.
He began his career in Transportation working for various firms. He finished his career becoming self-employed with Dedicated Distribution Services, Inc. He was an Indiana resident for the past 29 years.
He was active with various jail ministries for more than 20 years. He also served on the board of the Salvation Army and the Child Evangelism Fellowship.
Richard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan C. Good Augustine, Indiana; one daughter and one son, Stacy Marquez and husband Mark, Marion Center; Richard C., II, and wife Amanda, Indiana; five grandchildren; and the following siblings, Jay McCalmon and wife Mona, Heidleburg, Germany; Norman McCalmon and wife Debra, Dallas, TX; Sue Koppel and husband Larry, Coraopolis; Mary Pinkerton, Warrendale; Michael Augustine and wife Robin, Elwood City; Jeannette Claus and husband Matt, Warrendale; Jim Augustine, Elwood City; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, and on Saturday from 10 to 11 A.M. at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church where a funeral service will begin at 11 A.M. with the Rev. Jon Martin officiating. Interment will be made in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
