Rev. Harold C. Pittenger, age 89, of Indiana, formerly of Alton, MO, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016 at Indiana Regional Medical Center.

He was born in 1927 in Fostoria, KS to Clarence A. and Ruth A. Hendrix Pittenger.

Harold was a member of the Christian Business Men's Assoc., and was currently attending the Graystone Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He and Edith were born again in the 1980's and pastored in the Methodist Church. They later became itinerant evangelists and traveled border to border and coast to coast sharing the Good News. He loved the church and loved sharing his faith. He touched many lives and preaching God's word was his passion.

A veteran of WW II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, he served in the US Navy as a photographer with the DOD. He traveled with President Eisenhower and was also crew chief for space capsule recovery. Harold was instrumental in training many recruits in motion picture and cinematography at Military Training Schools.

Harold is survived by six children - James R. Pittenger and wife Deb, Gainesville, FL; Debra D. Mittelsdorf and husband Tom, Aurora, CO; Bill A. Bare and wife Kathy, Gainesville, FL; Sheryl L. Green and husband Steve, Miami, OK; Lawrence W. Pittenger and wife Cindy Shreveport, LA; and Judith M. Cunningham, Indiana, PA.

He was preceded in death by his wife Rev. Edith M. Wagner Pittenger in 2010, and his sister Dorothy R. Grabhorn.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 AM. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 A.M. at Graystone Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Indiana, followed by a luncheon at the church. A memorial service will be held in Shreveport, LA for the family.
