Ralph E. Duncan's Obituary

Obituary for Ralph E. Duncan Ralph E. "Duke" Duncan, age 89, of Stafford, VA, formerly of Indiana, PA, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014 in Fredericksburg, VA. He was born in 1925 in Homer City, PA to William McKinley and Marion Davis Duncan. A veteran of WW II, he served in the US Army Air Forces in the Pacific Theater. He was employed as an electrical technician for FMC in Homer City for 25 years and later as a truck driver for the Lockard Company in Indiana. Following his retirement, he was a classroom volunteer at the Eisenhower Elementary School in Indiana, where he assisted children in development of reading skills. Duke was a friend to all and never met a stranger. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed wood working and will be remembered for the pins he made for many children, young and old, in the community. He is survived by three daughters, Rita Peterson and husband Dennis, Pt St Lucie, FL; Pamela Druchniak and husband David, St Cloud, FL; Rae Ann Stanavich and husband Vincent, Pt St Lucie, FL; one son, Jeffrey A. Duncan and wife Toni, Stafford, VA; one brother, Raymond, New Hampshire; 9 grandchidren, Dennis Peterson, FL; Danette Johnson, FL; Holly Gonos, PA; Shawn Duncan, VA; Douglas Peterson, FL, Nicholas Duncan, VA; Nikki Womack, FL; Katie Duncan, VA; Michael Druchniak, PA; 11 great-grandchildren and his good friend and former wife Alberta Byron. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Shirley Duffy; his parents; one brother, Ansley; and infant daughter Darlene Sue. Friends will be received on Friday, October 3, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 A.M. with the Rev. Douglas Snyder officiating. Interment will be made in the Oaklan Cemetery, Indiana. The family expresses their sincere gratitude to staffs of Hughes Home and Mary Washington Hospice for their care and support of Mr. Duncan in his final days.
