Obituary

Ruth "LaRue" Hardick, age 79, of Indiana, died Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at her home. She was born in 1933 in Cherryhill Twp., to Samuel Norris and Bessie Cordellia Campbell Bowers. Mrs. Hardick was a former member of the Brush Valley Lutheran Church, and currently a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Indiana; the Eagles Auxiliary, and past member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, Indiana. She was also a volunteer for Hospice, the American Cancer Society, the Indiana Regional Cancer Treatment Center, and the American Heart Assoc. Following her retirement she spent many hours visiting those who were shut-ins and those who needed some company. LaRue was employed as director of the American Cancer Society for 25 years before her retirement in 1995. She was an avid golfer, and will be remembered for her home made Easter Eggs.vmvmv Surviving is her husband Lawrence C. Hardick, Indiana; one son John Mark Hardick, St. Petersburg, FL; several nieces and nephews, Debra James, Indiana; Samuel Bowers and wife Fredalene, Indiana; Donna Davis and husband James, Penn Run; James Bowers and wife Linda, Bloomsburg; Daniel Bowers, New Florence; Barbara Bowers, Indiana; Michele Fulton and husband Wayne, Cherry Tree; Michael Bowers and wife Vonda, Armagh; Justin Hardick, Baltimore, MD; Drew Hardick and wife Debbie, Baltimore, MD; Jane Hardick, Chicago, IL; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, by two brothers and two sisters, Norris S. and Donald Bowers, Martha Bence and Lenora Bowers. Friends will be received on Friday from 7 to 9 P.M., and on Saturday from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will begin at 1 P.M., with the Rev. Brian Miller officiating. Interment will be made in the Brush Valley Lutheran Cemetery.
