Philip B. Evans' Obituary

Philip B. Evans, age 55, of Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born in 1954 in Indiana Co., to Ira P. and Ida Mae Adamson Evans. He was a 1972 graduate of Indiana High School, and from Montgomery College in Maryland in 1975. Mr. Evans was an active member of the Graystone Presbyterian Church, where he was involved with the Youth Ministry for 20 years. He was also a past Deacon and is currently serving as an Elder and an Adult Sunday School teacher and small group Bible study leader. He profoundly touched the lives of many people young and old by his example and service. He loved the youth and they loved him. Phil was a recipient of the God and County award from the Boy Scouts of America, and was a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow. He was self-employed as owner/operator of Professional Prosthetics, (Dental Lab), in Indiana for the past 30 years. Phil was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Phil is survived by his wife Christine Kinney Evans, Indiana, whom he married June 23, 1990; by one daughter Kathrine Evans, (the pride and joy of his life),Indiana; by his mother of Indiana; by his sister Diana Steppling and husband Robert, Sparta, NJ; by two nephews, Matthew Steppling, Dumont, NJ; and Mark Steppling and wife Anne Marie, Gaithersburg, MD; and numerous other nieces and nephews in Connecticut. He was preceded in death by his father in 2003. Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 P.M. and on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral service will be held Sunday at 3 P.M. at the Graystone Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Richard Hurley officiating. Interment will be made in the Oakland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Graystone Presbyterian Church, (Youth Ministry) 640 Church St., Indiana, PA 15701.
