Ora "Jane" (Lewis) Rostis, age 89, of Indiana died Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center.
She was born in 1927 in Tennessee to James and Cora Belle Loveday Lewis.
Mrs. Rostis was a member of the Holy Protection of Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Homer City, the Aultman Senior Citizens, the Democratic Women of Indiana County, where she was named Democratic Women of the Year, the Federation of AFSME Local #13, and an Associate member of the UMWA.
She was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Torrance State Hospital for 28 years until her retirement in 1987.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her role as "grandma and Bubba" to all of her grandchildren.
Jane is survived by three daughters and one son, Geraldine Rolka and husband John, Centerline, MI; Julia Painter, Niles, OH; Donna Rethi and husband Joseph, Indiana; David Rostis and wife Dianna, Indiana; nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; one brother, Eugene Lewis, Farmville, VA; caregivers, Anna Mae McCroskey and husband Bob, Indiana; and a dear friend Dorothy Mastronardi, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband John C. Rostis in 1998, her son-in-law Arthur Painter, and by the following siblings, Floyd, Leonard, Walter, Boyd, infant Robert Mack, Leonna Dunn, Zelma Johnson, Lois Styfurak, Frankie Parton, and infant sisters Nellie and Bessie.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 7 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a Parasta Service will be held Thursday at 3 P.M. A Panachida service will be held Friday at the Funeral Home at 9:15 A.M. followed by a funeral Liturgy Friday at 10 A.M. at the Holy Protection of Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Homer City, with the Rev. Fr. Jerome Botsko the celebrant. Interment will be made at the St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana.
