Naomi L. Smith's Obituary

Naomi L. Smith, age 92, of Indiana, passed away peacefully on her wedding anniversary date, December 12, 2015 at Bethany Place Personal Care Home. She was born in 1923 to Lewis and Ada Nicholson Litzinger. Mrs. Smith was a life-long member of the Indiana Wesleyan Methodist Church with perfect attendance at Sunday School. She was a member of the BPW, and a volunteer for many years at the American Cancer Society where she could be seen wrapping Christmas presents at the Mall. She was also a volunteer at the Jimmy Stewart Museum. She was employed as a secretary for the CBC Coal Co., National Mine Supply, IUP, and Robert Shaw Controls. Naomi enjoyed traveling to Alaska, Spain, Australia, and throughout the American mainland. She also enjoyed bowling, planning high school reunions, and spending time with her family. Naomi is survived by two sister-in-laws - Jane Litzinger, Avonmore; Lois Litzinger, Indiana; one nephew - Wesley Litzinger, Laguna Beach, CA; four nieces - Beth Ann Paesano, Avonmore; Janet Apjok, Indiana; Susan Hails, Latrobe; Lori Baker, Middletown, MD; nine great nieces and nephews; and 10 great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her beloved husband Edward Smith in 1968 whom she married December 12, 1952, and by her brothers Blair and Lloyd Litzinger. Friends will be received on Thursday form 6 to 8 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, and on Friday from 10 to 11 A.M., the time of service, with the Rev. Joseph Smith officiating. Interment will be made in the Oakland Cemetery.
