Mona Jean Beatty's Obituary

Mona Jean Beatty, age 87, of Indiana, died Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at St. Andrew's Village.

She was born in 1932 in Conemaugh Twp. to Robert and M. Crystelle Kunkle Brown.  She resided in Clarksburg for 21 years before moving to Indiana.

She was a graduate of Indiana State Teachers College (IUP), and taught Elementary Education for several years.

Mona was a member of the Graystone Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Indiana.  She taught Sunday School and was a leader of the Bertha Sutherland Circle, a member of the Builders Sunday School Class and a worker in the Church Nursery.  She was a lifetime member of Sigma Kappa Sorority and a 4-H leader for eleven years.  Mona was also a volunteer at St Andrew's Village since 1990 and was currently a member of the Auxiliary Board.  She was named "Outstanding Volunteer for 2001."

In addition to her teaching, she was employed by White Twp. as an Auditor for 30 years.  She was a family member of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill and active with the Community Support Program.

She is survived by four children - Roger Beatty and wife Carolyn, Indiana; Cheryl Beatty, Hillsdale; June Rose and husband Joel, Lebanon; Robert Beatty and wife Kathryn, Indiana; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter; and a special sister-in-law Lois Beatty, New Florence.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Alvin in 2007, a brother William Brown and a sister Eleanor Danklef.

Funeral services are private and under the direction of the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana.  Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
