Mildred E. Smith's Obituary

Mildred E. (Graham) Smith, age 94, of Homer City, (Black Lick Twp.) went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Moorehead Place where she resided during the past several years. The family would like to express their appreciation for the excellent care provided during her stay. She was born in 1920 in Indiana to Alex and Gladys A. Anthony Graham. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Jacksonville Presbyterian Church, and attended the Clarksburg Trinity Presbyterian Church occasionally. She was also a member of the National Campers' and Hikers' Association. A graduate of IUP, she began her teaching career in a one-room school house in Coal Run. Following that, she taught at Elders Ridge and Apollo Ridge Schools. She loved teaching and her students. She believed she made a difference in many students' lives. Following her teaching career, she resided in Mt. Dora, FL for many winters. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, painting, reading, crocheting, knitting, traveling, and camping. Mildred is survived by one daughter and one son - Linda K. Bucco and husband Gerald, Clarksburg, and their children - Amanda Cole and husband Charles, Aaron Bucco and wife Katie; Kenneth G. Smith and wife Kimberly, Blairsville and their children - Cortney Mascari and husband David, Jacqueline Davis and husband JT; seven great grandchldren; one sister - Grace Gordan, FL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband C. Ernest. Smith in 2000, two brothers and one sister - Donald and Glenn Graham, and Ruby McCalla. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday at 3 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, with the Rev. Katie Ward Stear officiating. Friends will be received from 2 to 3 P.M. on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jacksonville Presbyterian Church, c/o Vicki Gressley, Treasurer, 955 Ben Franklin Road North, Indiana, PA 15701.
