Mavis R. Fry's Obituary

Mavis R. Fry, age 89, of Indiana, died Friday, September 24, 2010 at Communities of Indian Haven. She was born in 1921 in Jefferson Co. to Jacob M. and Rheba Wingard Rhoades. Mrs. Fry was a graduate of Indiana High School and Indiana Teachers College, (IUP). She retired from teaching Home Economics at Purchase Line High School after 371/2 years. She was a member of the Graystone Presbyterian Church, and the Purchase Line Church of the Brethren Women's Fellowship. She had also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Mrs. Fry enjoyed reading, and was accomplished in needlepoint, knitting, and sewing. Mavis is survived by one son Bob, Indiana; by one niece and four nephews, Gail Fry McCurdy, Indiana; Lynn Fry and wife Carol, Indiana; Gordon Fry and wife Donna, Creekside; Mervin Fry and wife Linda, Homer City; Keith Fry and wife Linda, Lucernememines; and by two "grand" nephews and four "grand: nieces, Michael Fry and wife Jaime, Evan Fry, Kelly Black and husband Adam, Tracy Fishel and husband Rodney, Misty McCurdy and boyfriend Kody Kepple, and Cortney Fry and fianc Shane Litz; and by five great "grand"" nieces and nephews; and by her best friend Mae Hamilton, Purchase Line. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Wendell L. Fry in 1995, whom she married August 1, 1947, by her sister Garnet S. Fry in 1999, by her brothers-in-law Joseph E. Fry in 2009, Lawrence Fry in 1985, and by her sister-in-law Mary Fry in 1988. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 11 A.M. with the Rev. John Sykes officiating. Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana.
