Matthew A. Smith, age 38 of Indiana, died Thursday, June 29, 2017 in Pittsburgh.

He was born in 1979 in Indiana to Michael J. and Linda J. Boyer Smith.

He was a member of the Local #1058 Carpenters Union, Pittsburgh, and the 910 Labors Union.

Matthew worked as a carpenter for "Shell" Cracker Plant, Pittsburgh. Prior to that he was employed by Penn Fencing, Indiana.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, and riding his ATV.

He is survived by his parents of Indiana, one sister, Laurie Gauntner, Indiana; three nephews and one niece, Ryan, Clay, Madalyn, and Luke Gauntner. He is also survived by his cousin Harry Cochran and wife Debbie, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents James "Buck" and Viola Smith, maternal grandparents, Mary and Dale Boyer.

Friends will be received on Monday from 3 to 5 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will begin at 5 P.M. Interment will be private.
