Mary A. Sklar, age 93, of Kent, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at St. Andrew's Village. She was born in 1922 in Lucernemines to Anthony and Anna Turify Boris. Mrs. Sklar was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Kent. She was employed as an assistant personnel director for Torrance State Hospital for 26 years before her retirement in 1984. She is survived by two daughters and one son, Cecelia "Bonnie" Mattern, Las Vegas, NV; Gregory J. Sklar and wife Carol, Butler; Rita L. Sklar, Reno, NV; four grandchildren, Mary Mattern, Jonathan, Christopher, and Ashley Bazzani and husband Jace; one brother, T. Edward Boris and wife Helen, Reisterstown, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Joseph B. Sklar in 2013, and her sister and brother, Helen Homa and John A. Boris. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 A.M. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kent. Burial will be made in the St. Bernard's Cemetery.
