Obituary

Mary E. Sirochman, age 78, of Indiana, formerly of Shelocta, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Beacon Ridge Nursing Home, the last surviving member of her family. She was born in 1933 in Sagamore, to Joseph and Mary Bijoe Zak. Mrs. Sirochman was a member of St. Thomas More University Parish. She was a homemaker and mother, having resided first in Sagamore, Shelocta, and Indiana. Along with her sisters, they provided catering services for weddings. She loved to cook and bake, and spending time with her grandchildren Mary is survived by three children, Christine Shandick and husband Jack, Shelocta; Karen Harshyne and husband Larry, Quakertown; Joseph and wife Margie, Washington; four grandchildren, Larry Harshyne and wife Mandy; Wendi Pallozzi and husband Joseph; Melanie Phillips and husband Shawn; Michelle Dornsife; six great grandchildren, Alexis, Nathan, Ella, Joshua, Olivia, and Will. She is also survived by a special niece, Dee Skerkavich. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Steve in 1998, and by 13 siblings. Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 1 P.M at St. Thomas More University Parish with the Rev. Fr. William Lechnar. Interment will be made in the St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Sagamore. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E - 201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
