Mary M. Rising's Obituary

Mary M. Rising, age 89, of Creekside, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2015, (the same death date as her mother) at St. Andrew's Village. She was born in 1926 in Washington Twp. To Bert and Edna Gontz Allshouse. Mrs. Rising was a member of the Plum Creek Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Parkwood Grange and Kettering Homemakers. She was a homemaker and a life-long Washington Twp. resident. She enjoyed quilting and spending time with her grandchildren. Mary is survived by four grandchildren - Christine Mikeska and husband George, Creekside; Scott Lorenzo and wife Debi, Penn Run; Laura Blystone and husband David, Creekside; Jennifer Lingenfelter and husband John, Creekside; seven great grandchildren - Heather LaVan and husband Nate, Nathan, Taylor, and Noah Lingenfelter, Regis Troxell, Keith Troxell and wife Diane, Melissa Olszewski and husband John, one great great grandson - Isaiah. She is also survived by many Amish friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Archie Delone Rising, and by her daughter Mabel McCracken. Friends will be received on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Tom Spiker officiating. Interment will be made in the Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice, 850 Hospital Road, Suite 3000, Indiana, PA 15701. The family would like to extend their thanks to the VNA for many years of compassionate care to Mary, and St. Andrew's Village for specialized care for the past year.
