Mary R'Dell Boucher's Obituary

Mary R'Dell (Williams) Boucher, formerly of 95 Shady Drive, Indiana PA, passed away on May 12, 2015. She was 79 years old. Known always as "R'Dell," she was born on June 19, 1935 in St. Marys, PA, the daughter of Hiram A. "Hi" Williams of Pierpont, OH and Alice (Salter) Williams of St. Marys. She graduated from Central High School in St. Marys in 1953, and attended Indiana State Teachers' College in Indiana, PA later that year. After her college graduation in 1957, she worked for several years as a business teacher, including a number of years in Morristown, NJ. She married James M. Boucher of Dormont, PA, whom she met at Indiana State Teachers College, on December 28, 1960. She resigned from formal in-school teaching when she and James started a family, and spent 20+ years as a full time matriarch for her family of 5 children. In 1981, she began operation of an in-home child daycare center, taking in dozens of children over the course of 16 years. She finally joined her husband in full retirement in 1997. R'Dell was an active member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church, including spending many years as a devoted member of the adult choir and as a volunteer CCD teacher for the parish. She cherished her husband, her children, children-in-law and grandchildren, her friends, her church, singing in the choir, and her "babies" who became part of her extended family through daycare, many of whom stayed in contact with her for many years after her retirement. She spent her last years at Providence Point Personal Care in Mt. Lebanon, PA. R'Dell was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother-in-law Robert Boucher of Tampa, FL. She is survived by her brother Frank Williams and sister-in-law Angela (Marini) Williams of Louisville, KY; her sister-in-law Bonnie (Boucher) Thomas and brother-in-law Dave Thomas of Bethel Park, PA: her son Steven James Boucher and daughter-in-law Janet (Knauss) Boucher of Tolland, CT; her daughter Janet Ann Boucher of Collinsville, VA; her daughter Margaret Lynn Schrello and son-in-law Dean Schrello of South Park, PA; her son Robert Williams Boucher and daughter-in-law Lori (Vancheri) Boucher of Allison Park, PA; her daughter Elizabeth Marie Miner and son-in-law Arthur Miner of Zachary, LA; grandsons Eric James & Adam Robert Boucher of Tolland, CT; grandsons Michael Dean & Mark James Schrello of South Park, PA; grandson Noah Avery Boucher of Allison Park, PA; and grandsons Benjamin Arthur & Alexander James Miner of Zachary, LA. A funeral mass will be held at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church at 10:00 am on Monday, May 18, 2015. A celebration luncheon will be held in the church social hall for all of her friends, family, loved ones, those special to her, and those for whom R'Dell was special, immediately after the mass and interment in St. Bernard's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lewy Body Dementia Association and/or to the GIST Cancer Research Fund.
