Martina L. Bryson Hughes, 89, of Indiana, PA, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Born February 10, 1935, in Rochester, NY, she was a daughter of the late John R. and Marie E. (Smith) Bryson.
Martina was a devout member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church. She was involved with many organizations such as the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Salvation Army Auxiliary, Angels Wings as well as a volunteer with the American Red Cross. Her greatest joys in life were raising her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves behind four children, Lisa M. Pacconi of Indiana, Barbara L. Hughes and Diane Morrissey, of Colorado Springs, CO, Kathleen L. Whitesel and husband, Dale, of Indiana, PA, and Judith A. Kline and husband, Stephen, of Schererville, IN; son-in-law, Jeff Woodring, of Blairsville, PA; 12 grandchildren, Michael Pacconi and wife, Jennifer, Matthew Pacconi, Tricia Lehocky and husband, Drew, Patrick Whitesel and wife, Amber, Lindsay Kline, Ashley Kline, Jake Kline, Kelly Kline and wife, Briana, and Christopher Kline; Tara Lichtenfels, Brian Lichtenfels and wife, Trisha, and Erin Markovitz and husband, David; twelve great-grandchildren, Nicolas and Kira Pacconi, Myles, Talon, and Ivory Rose Markovitz, Kaia and Kaleo Lichtenfels, Kingston Beauchamp, Zyonn Kline, Scarlett and Violett Lehocky, and Marveyah Whitesel; sister, Kathleen Ruffennach, of Delaware, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Martina was preceded in death by her husband, Brian J. Hughes on February 20, 2017; a daughter, Mary Beth Lichtenfels; and brothers, John M. Bryson, James Bryson.
Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 11:30 AM in St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church, Indiana, with Father Jonathan Urlick, OFM, Cap. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Bernard Cemetery.
