Martha G. Wilmoth's Obituary

Martha G. Wilmoth, age 97, of Marion Center, passed away Friday, June 25, 2010 at her home. She was born 1912 in Cambria Co. to Harry and Eva Cox Greenwood. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church for many years, and was currently a member of the Glen Campbell Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Graduating second in her high school class, she continued her education at Indiana Normal School, (now IUP), receiving a degree in Elementary Education. She taught elementary school in Barnesboro, and often recounted stories of her students, who she loved very much. She loved music and although she would deny it, she was an accomplished pianist and organist. As a young girl she accompanied a singing group who performed on the radio. Martha was the epitome of grace and was loved by everyone she met. She found great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with whom she shared her love of reading, music, and chocolate. Martha married Harry C. Wilmoth of Glen Campbell on December 27, 1940 who survives her. She is also survived by one daughter and one son, Dr. Ann G. Wilmoth, Marion Center; Harry C. Wilmoth, Jr., and wife Patti, Marion Center; two grandchildren, Kelli Sacco and husband Gregg, Marion Center; Brandon Wilmoth and fiance Alisha, Memphis, TN; three great grandchildren, Tyler, Camryn, and Colin Sacco. She was preceded in death by her parents, by two brothers George and Ralph Greenwood. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 A.M. with the Rev. William Geiger officiating. Interment will be made in the Thompson Cemetery, Hillsdale. Martha loved flowers, but she loved helping others more, therefore, if you are so inclined, you may make a donation in her memory to the VNA Extended Care; 850 Hospital Rd., Suite 3000, Indiana, PA 15701.
