Marlin "Bing" Stephens, III, age 75 died Friday November 16, 2018 at his home in The Villages, FL.

He was born in 1943 in Johnstown, PA to John H. Stephens, Jr., and Janet Louther Stephens.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the US Air Force.

He was employed as a Building Trades & Special Populations teacher for 25 years at the Indiana County Technology Center.

Bing was a member of the The Villages RV Club, Wise Owls RV Club, Rotary International, a Leader of District RYLA for 20 years, PADI Scuba Diving Instructor, HAS Handicapped Scuba Instructor, AOPA, Pattern Partner Dance Club, American Legion, and the American Red Cross Apheresis donor.

Bing loved gardening, scuba diving, flying, carpentry, and especially teaching young people. He taught Scuba Diving to 11+ year olds privately, through the Ocala Rec. Dept, and the Boy Scouts. He loved showing them how to overcome their fears and enjoy a life of wonderful new experiences. Through his teaching at ICTC, he taught his students vocational skills as well as life skills; through the RYLA program, high school students received leadership training as well as courage and self worth . Bing dedicated his life to helping others through teaching, being a first responder, serving in the military and was always available for anyone in need of assistance.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sandra "Jean" Emery Stephens, The Villages, FL; by five children - Marlin B. Stephens, IV, (Amy), Benton, KS; John W. Stephens, (Jennifer), Olathe, KS; Stephen Paul Stephens, (Suzanne), Newalla, OK; Sherri E. Stephens, Ocala, FL; Franc S. Myers, Ocala, FL; 10 grandchildren - Gage (Erica), Chanse (Lexee), Blue (Katelyn), John, Jessie, Jacob, Alexander, Samuel, Lily, and Mikayla; one great granddaughter - Karter; and a brother Dr. John H. Stephens III, (Barbara) Slippery Rock, PA.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother William, and a daughter-in-law Katherine Myers.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, PA, where a funeral service will be held Friday at 11 A.M. with the Pastor Tom Phillips officiating. Interment will be made in the Armagh Cemetery, Armagh, PA.
