Obituary

Marilla E. Alsop, 83, of Huntingdon formerly of Coral, went to be with the Lord August 6, 2012. She was born in 1928 to Paul and Frances (Underwood) Adams in Brush Valley Twp. Marilla was a member of the Luther Chapel Lutheran Church in Coral where she served as the church organist for many years. She attended St. James Lutheran Church, Huntingdon after moving to Huntingdon. Marilla was an officer and volunteer for the Lutheran Brotherhood Organization, a volunteer at the Indiana Regional Medical Center dental clinic, a charter member of Homer Center historical society, and enjoyed square dancing with the Naughty Pines Square dancing Club. She retired in 1989 as the Post Master at the Coral Post Office after serving 30 years. She enjoyed crocheting, traveling, was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates Fan, and spending time with her family. She is survived by three daughters and a son, Judith Barnes and husband Col., Ret. John W. of Ashton, MD; Gary P. and wife Linda of Coral; Cathryn Bauer and husband Rodney, Syracuse, NY; Barbara Eastman and husband John, Huntingdon, 5 grandchildren John Barnes and wife Emma, Chantilly, VA; Mark Barnes and wife Yujin, Seoul South Korea; Kristen (Bauer) Angell and husband Patrick, Solvay, NY; Ryan Bauer, Syracuse, NY and Brock Eastman, Huntingdon PA, and Ashton MD; three great grandchildren, Lillian, David and Mason Barnes; a sister Gladys Visnesky, Brush Valley; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David B. Alsop in 1997, and a brother Lloyd Adams. Visitation will be on Friday at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Luther Chapel Lutheran Church, Coral, with Pastor Vaughn Taylor, Pastor Arlene Schweitzer and Vicar Tedd Cogar officiating. Burial will take place in the Luther Chapel Cemetery, Coral. Memorial contributions may be made to the Luther Chapel Lutheran Church, P.O.
