Obituary

Lois Yvonne Coleman, age 85, of Indiana, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. She was born 1927 in Dayton, to John Bert and Vernie Lewis Sloniger. She was a graduate of Dayton High School in 1945. She married Gilbert E. "Gib" Coleman in 1947 and was married for 52 years until his death in 2009. Following her graduation Lois worked for a time in New Jersey and then was employed by Sylvania in Brookville. They moved to Saltsburg and began employment with Steiner's Drapery Co. in Saltsburg. Later she worked for the Blairsville-Saltsburg School District food service department for many years until her retirement in 1984. Lois emjoyed playing cards, reading, casinos, and camping. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with family and friends. Lois was an outstanding cook and loved sharing this gift on holidays and summer picnics. Lois is survived by one sister and three brothers, Betty Sloniger, Indiana; Dr. Edward L. Sloniger and wife Mary Beth, Indiana; Kenneth Sloniger, Phoenix, AZ; Barry Sloniger and wife Andrea, Champaign, IL. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, all of whom were important in her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, by two brothers and two sisters, Gene and Carl "Sonny" Sloniger, Golda Adair Jamison and Margaret Van Horn. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Thursday at 1:30 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, with Pastor Kathy Mihoerck officiating. Interment will be made in the Smicksburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to VNA, 850 Hospital Rd., Suite 3000, Indiana, PA 15701.
