Lewis Elkin's Obituary

Lewis Henry Elkin, age 73, of Tuscola, Il, formerly of Indiana, PA, passed away Saturday August 28, 2010 at his residence. He was born in 1936 in Indiana Co. to John and LaRue Good Elkin. He married Janice M. McCormick on October 29, 1960 in Indiana, PA, she survives. In 2004, he retired to Illinois to be near his family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed going to hunting camps with his friends and family in Potter Co., PA. For all who knew him, he will be remembered by his love of life, his kind and gentle smile, and his playful sense of humor. Other survivors include his daughter, Tami Moyer and husband Mike, Tuscola, IL; three granddaughters, Kylie, Caylen, and Kyra; three sisters, Mildred Brady, Smicksburg, PA; Bernice Rankin, Saxonburg, PA; Bulah Waltemire, Bedford, PA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, by his infant son, and by five brothers, Wade, Clifford, Ray, LeRoy, and Stanley Elkin. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 A.M, with Pastor Joyce Dix-Weiers officiating. Interment will be made in the Smicksburg Cemetery.
