Obituary

Lester W. Clark, age 91, of Indiana, died Monday, February 6, 2012 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born in 1920 in Creekside, to Albert and Martha McCreight Clark. Mr. Clark was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Indiana; the VFW Post #1989; and the Pin-ee Camping Club. Lester was a veteran of WW II, having served in the US Army, 1st Division, Infantry, and was awarded the Silver Star and the Purple Heart. He participated in the D-Day Invasion. He was employed by the R and P Coal as a surveyor and a mining engineer for a total of 40 years. Lester was loved much by his family. Lester is survived by his wife of 66 years Mary Jane Gibbon Clark, Indiana; two sons and three daughters, Sandra Clark, Alexandria, VA; Leslie Clark, Alexandria, VA; Charles Clark and wife Anna Marie, Indiana; Karen Rager and husband Robert, Homer City; Mark Clark, Indiana; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, by two sisters, Lillian Caylor and Martha Smeltzer. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Friday at 11 A.M.. with the Rev. Julie Walz officiating. Private interment will be made in the Oakland Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home by the VFW Post #1989.
