Obituary

Leslie J. "Les" Hilty, age 84, of Homer City, died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at his home. He was born in 1927 in Apollo, to Andrew C. and Eva May Stanford Hilty. Mr. Hilty was a member of the Jacksonville Presbyterian Church, where he served as church auditor. He was also a member of United Steel Workers, and the FOE in Vandergrift. A veteran of WW II, he served in the US Army and also served in the US Merchant Marines prior to his army service. He was employed by US Steel in Vandergrift for 20 years until his retirement. He also owned and operated his farm in Armstrong Twp. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Leslie is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gail L. Riggle Hilty, Homer City; One daughter, Virginia Brandon and husband Gilbert, Indiana; three grandchildren, Steven Brandon, Indiana; Gregory Brandon and wife Dana, Indiana; Courtney Brandon, Indiana; two great grandchildren, Ethan and Zoe. He is also survived by one brother Lloyd Hilty and wife Judy, Brick Church; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents. Friends will be received on Friday from 2to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 P.M. with the Rev. Kathryn Ward Stear officiating. Interment will be made in the Riverview Cemetery, Apollo. Graveside military services will be provided by the VFW Post #1989 at the funeral home. The family would like to acknowledge the special care and concern that was proved by the VNA and Hospice.
