Leo R. 'Jimmy' Stormer's Obituary

Leo R. "Jimmy" Stormer, age 91, of Indiana, died Sunday, July 12, 2015 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born in 1924 in Emerickville, Jefferson County, to John Reed and Sidna Rosetta Mottern Stormer. Jimmy was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Indiana, VFW Post #1989, the American Legion Post #141, and the AARP. A veteran of WW II, he served in the US Army Combat Engineers. He was involved in the D-Day invasion on the beaches of Normandy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, feeding his back yard wildlife, sandlot baseball and his two cats Snert and Boney. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy I. (Gifford) Stormer, Indiana; three sons - Dennis A., Indiana; Rodger L. and wife Linda, Indiana; Thomas W., Indiana; six grandchildren - Jimmy, Brian, Jonathan, Travis, Luke and Andrew Stormer; five great grandchildren - Chase, Brooks, Zoey, Jordan, and Keira; and a sister Ruth Gourley, Warren, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, a great granddaughter Sidney Pearl Stormer, by two brothers and three sisters - Kenneth and Leonard Stormer, Sarah Hollenbaugh, Almeda Macfarland, and June Emery. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 12:00 PM at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Joseph Smith officiating. Interment will be made in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana. Graveside military honors will be provided by the VFW Post #1989.
