Lawrence V. Dunlap's Obituary

Lawrence V. Dunlap, age 85, of Indiana, died Monday, January 24, 2011 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born in 1925 in Cherry Tree, to Alvin and Gertrude Mathers Dunlap. Larry was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, the F and AM Masonic Lodge #313, the Altoona Consistory, the Jaffa Shrine, and the UMWA Local #6986. A veteran of WW II, he served in USCG Merchant Marines in Sheepshead Bay, NY. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator by various surface mining companies and retired from the Maysville Coal Co. of Shelocta. He was also employed by Aging Services for 13 years delivering meals in Blairsville. Larry is survived by his wife of 65 years, Althea Keith Dunlap, Indiana; one son and one daughter, Carlton Mack Dunlap, Williamson, NY; Deborah Dunlap Weinstein and husband Norman, Greensburg; three grandchildren, Gary Dunlap, Danielle Conrow and husband Kenneth, and Rebecca Jarvis; three great grandchildren, John, Matthew, and Emily; one sister Katherine Beck, Cherry Tree; and by many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, by three sisters and one brother, Mildred Deyarmin, Geraldine Woytek, Bertha Benson, and Elmer Dunlap. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a Masonic Memorial service will be held Thursday at 7 P.M. A funeral service will be held Friday at the funeral home at 11 A.M. with Pastor Dennis Marshall and Joseph Traynor officiating. Entombment will be made in the Oakland Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
