Lauren Nicole Eshbaugh's Obituary

Lauren Nicole Eshbaugh, age 19, of Indiana, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family and pastors. She had a very strong faith in the Lord, which helped her live her life to the fullest during her 19 month battle with cancer. She was born May 17, 1990 in Indiana, to Kenneth W. and Kathleen A. Hasty Eshbaugh. Lauren was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Youth Group, and often sang with the church choir. She just completed her first year at Carnegie Mellon University, where she was studying voice performance. She was recently initiated into Sigma Alpha Iota, a women's music fraternity. Lauren had a love of music and began singing in choruses since the age of nine. These included the River City Youth Chorale, the Children's Festival Chorus, Junior Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, and productions with the Pittsburgh Opera. A 2008 graduate and high honor student at Indiana Area High School, Lauren participated in numerous band, chorus, drama productions, and was a member of the National Honor Society. In addition to her love of singing, Lauren also was an accomplished pianist and flutist. Lauren is survived by her parents of Indiana; her brother Kevin M. Eshbaugh and wife Danielle, Ford City; one nephew Kohlt Eshbaugh; paternal grandmother Louise Eshbaugh, Clarion; two aunts, Laurie Lemons and husband William, Kittanning; Myrna Eshbaugh, Clarion; two uncles, Robert Newell and wife Theresa, Latrobe; Daniel Newell and wife Jennifer, San Angelo, TX; a special great aunt and uncle, Jean and Gary Shepherd, Blairsville; and her cousins, Greg and Noelle Lemons, Chad and Cody Burford, Rheannie and Rutger Newell. She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Sylvia and C. Robert Shepherd, Betty Newell, and paternal grandfather Robert C. Eshbaugh. Friends will be received on Thursday from 7 to 9 P.M. and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, 500 Ben Franklin Rd., S., Indiana. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 A.M. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 398 Church St., Indiana, with the Rev. Greg Golden and Rev. Jude Urso officiating. Interment will be made in the Oakland Cemetery. Lauren would be honored if memorial contributions were made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, (Piano Fund), 398 Church St., Indiana, PA 15701.
