Laura Wood Martin's Obituary

Laura Wood Martin, age 96, of Indiana, formerly of Mt. Lebanon, PA, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Beacon Ridge Nursing Home. She was born in 1914 in Pittsburgh, PA to David Leo Hotchkiss and Justine Wood. Mrs. Martin has been a member of St. Bernard and St. Thomas More parishes since her move to Indiana in 2003. Mrs. Martin was a loving mother and grandmother, and a devoted wife. Laura is survived by four sons and one daughter, John and wife Bernice, San Jose, CA; Laura May Martin, Sacramento, CA; Bernard Leo, Sacramento, CA; Paul, Saegertown, PA; James and wife Marcella, Indiana, PA; eleven grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband John Augustus Martin, by an infant daughter Mary Martha, by a grandson John Russell Martin, by a sister Martha Sturgis, and by a devoted uncle and aunt who raised her, Frank and Bertha Goodwill. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, 500 Ben Franklin Road South, Indiana, PA. Friends will also be received on Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. at the St. Thomas More University Parish, where a funeral mass will begin at 9:30 A.M. with the Rev. Fr. Pierre George Sodini the celebrant. Interment will be made in Allegheny County Memorial Park, Allison Park, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA, 850 Hospital Rd., Suite 3000, Indiana, PA 15701, or to St. Thomas More University Parish, 1200 Oakland Ave., Indiana, PA 15701.
